Just got a new internship and they're looking to make me into a handy Unix user so I was looking to install Solaris on my computer (an AMD Laptop running XP) and I was wondering what would be the best virtual desktop to use to install Solaris on.

Would Virtualbox be the best bet?

VirtualBox would probably work fine, as would VMware Server. Solaris is pretty pick about hardware thought so you might want to google around a bit and make sure the version of Solaris that you're looking at supports the virtual hardware. And if you're going for real Solaris that it's the x86 release and not the sparc one.

But you shouldn't call them virtual desktops, generally when people here the term virtual desktop they think of the ability for most unix desktops to have multiple desktops.
