Virginia Tech`s Super Computer Video

Wow! How does one go about clustering computers together? Is that something I could pull off at home w/ say 2 computers running athlon xp 2500+ cpu's?
 
Very nice video. Go Virginia Tech!! Now, what would they have if they clustered 1100 dual processor Athlon64's??

It would probably be simliar performance. I think the G5 has similar performace in what they are trying to pull off, and I'm sure Apple gave them a pretty sweet deal.
 
I'd love a G5 computer. If a decent one didn't cost ~4000.00USD.

Therefore, I will stick with PC's for now.

I like the price comparsion: VT's: 5.2mil. Los Alamos, 30% faster, 215mil

I was thinking the same thing. With 20mil, and VT's design, you could probably leave EARTH in the dust. Or at least equal it.
