Virginia State Health Database Held For Ransom

The PMP declined to comment, although when contacted, appeared to be aware of the issue, instantly referring inquiries to the director of the DHP, who is presently unavailable.

I think I would make my self unavailable too......😱

How do they really expect to get away with the money?

Don't you watch 24? Their real objective is the import of nuclear weapons. This is all a ruse. And even that plan is a ruse for the real plan which is to launch a shuttle into space.

So what are the changes the backups are gone also?

If they are not doing their job then I have a feeling they are going to go down in flames.

so all it needs is a password to unencrypt? COuldn't the NSA do that for them?

I was thinking the same, there are organizations with enough computational power to brute force it.

Good riddance. Incompetence in government should not be tolerated. ¡Viva la Revolución!

don't they have cold backup?

I am wondering if they took the time to go through the libraries and delete tapes. there is a chance that the admins were lazy and just kept backups onsite indefinitely IN THE DAMN LIBRARY.

idiots.

Just one of many reasons why national health care scares the crap out of me.

The Veterans Affairs alone compromised over 26 million ID's.

It doesn't have to scare you.

My plan: tax credits that match what you paid for private insurance up to the value of what a high-deductable health care insurance plan would cost a person with your medical history. That is it. No more government involvement than that. No government meddling, no database of personal information, nothing to worry about. Ok, your private insurance company could be hacked and your data stolen, but that can happen just as easilly with or without national health care.

I doubt this guy was able to get all of the backups, but even if he didn't he still has the data, and he's threatening to sell it. I doubt he has a way to get away with the money undetected, so he'll probably be caught one way or another. Paying the ransom is pointless, because there's nothing stopping him from selling the data anyway. The only solution is to track him down and eliminate him.
