I’m saying there are a lot of people who are against abortions period. When he said what he did you bet they’re gonna go hysterical. I get what he meant and I don’t disagree (although the recent push for third trimester abortions should be met with pause) but you bet they’ll get pissed. They don’t want abortion period much less after the baby has been delivered.

“So in this particular example if a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen, the infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”
"... and its done in cases where there may be severe deformities. There may be a fetus that’s not viable. So in this particular example, if a mother is in labor..."

It's not an abortion when the baby is naturally born non-viable. And the decision by parents not to resuscitate is almost certainly the most painful and tragic decision of their entire lives, not some callous act of murder.
So to flip that statement into something supporting 'post-birth abortion,' and to so harshly judge the parents put though such a terrible ordeal, is simply deplorable.

He's now saying that the pic is not him, and he's not resigning. He should go. I'm not a Trump supporter at all, but I could only imagine if someone dug up a pic of Trump at a party dressed up in black paint. There would be riots, and a call for him to vacate the office.

Lol. If someone ever dug up a pic of Trump in blackface.. nothing would happen. It might last 2 newscycles. Certainly no longer than the "grab em by pussy" incident lasted.

I’m with you, there certainly is a difference between a 17 year old guy and a 50-something year old guy.
Again I know nothing of this guy but it would be nice if someone could point to something recent that is questionable.

**also**

I just saw on cnn that he now states that is not him in the picture.
Link was breaking news type thing with no other info

I think he said it was him yesterday and now it isn't... Well I think he is just fibbing about it now.

The KKK has been parodied many, many times in lots and lots of media. The constant pearl clutching is childish.

This guy is an idiot independent of this picture, but it's sad that he is excoriated by democrats while Robert Byrd, an actual leader in the Klan, was exonerated on the basis that he apologized.

Robert Byrd was never a Klan leader.

Deplorable. Lol

I agree though the statement is being read out of context but they don’t want to hear it.

Do we know this was a Halloween party? Its not like there haven't been so called "Ghetto Parties" where participants can make fun of black people

I've never heard of a Ghetto Party. Are they popular up north? I'm from Georgia originally and I've never heard of it.

Giving blackface tips at your press conference to deny you were in blackface (the best option) in the picture is a choice a person can make.

But he was in the Klan.
For less than a year in his early 20s. After which, he spent the remainder of his adult life fighting against racism.

I have always been opposed to these political witch hunts where we hold people accountable for stupid shit they did 30+ years ago. I hated the Kavanaugh hearings because this kind of nonsense distracted away from the issues. I didn't care about what he did in high school, I cared about what he believed now, and what he was likely to do when he got on the bench.

Everyone was young and dumb at some time in their lives. If we're lucky enough to survive our stupid mistakes, then we can hopefully learn from them to become mature adults.

Deplorable is the right word here. These "pro-lifers" are so certain of the righteousness of their cause that they believe only evil stands against them. And as history has taught us, that's when the real evil begins.

And by the way, you just tried to take it of context here, by misquoting it.

Disturbing how the media latches on to this stuff, I mean really....
Taking a glance over at CNN website you'd think the survival of human existence itself depends on this one issue.
The media blows it all up into craziness, because they are bored and this nonsense equals ratings, in their mind.
The latest shiny thing...
Trump needs to do or say or tweet something outrageous just about now, then the media would drop this shiny thing like a hot potato and focus on the new shiny thing. Something Donald Trump said.
Everybody has a past and never have I read to qualify for public office one must be a saint, in the biblical term.
Lets only hope the Pope never decides to run for office.
Getting a little tiring this EAT THEIR OWN bs.

The pro lifers believe that is a living being that deserves the same rights as the rest of us. I wouldn’t call that deplorable at all. You may disagree with them but heir intention is good.

Which stands in opposition to the right of women to have sovereignty over their own bodies.

No, they believe that the unborn baby has more rights than the mother, and that they also have the right to inflict their decisions and their will upon the mother.
They believe that a women should be forced to bear and raise their rapist's child, even when it was incest.
They believe that (as in this circumstance) women should be forced to allow heroic medical measures to a non-viable fetus, even when there is no hope that the fetus can survive, and even if the costs of that heroic medical care will bankrupt the parents, and otherwise destroy their lives.
And they believe a mother should be forced to bear the child even when the mother will certainly die while doing so, which is the most convincing proof that they believe that the unborn have more rights than the living.
But for sure, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Because the leftist media was too busy digging through everything they could find on Kavanaugh. They couldnt be bothered to look into a Dem Gov.

But CNN keeping with their "factsfirst" mantra, listed him as a R.

Personally, it was a long time ago. If he has lived his life free of anything like that, then its whatever. It was a different time, judging everyone by todays standards, for things that happened decades ago isnt always so great. I think we can all look back on actions we've did or said years ago that we would be embarrassed of today. Times have changed, and thats a good thing. "Thats so gay" or "thats retarded" were common put downs years ago. Not so much anymore, although plenty of people still use "retarded" as a put down on these forums, then try to claim they arent bigoted.

What Bill Maher just did is worse to me, its present time. But like before, he gets a pass. The same people here who like to call out any alleged racist thing against someone on the right, are silent on this matter. Which just proves they dont really give a shit. Its ok when racism is used to the right kind of people. Biggest offender, and race baiter, is right above me.
you are the victim.

they dont care. Wedge issue.

lol, here we go with Robert Byrd again. But hey, the alternative to not apologizing for abject racism and renouncing your KKK membership, is to do what all of his then-contemporary racist Democrats did: like Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms: fully embrace the racism and white supremacy, leave the Dem party and hijack the Republican party, turn it wholly sympathetic and inarguably proud to be racists shitstains and ensure that no republican federal office will ever again be elected without that strong, established block of deplorably racist southern republican assholes, and just continue on that way until today. Because that's the truth.

Criticize a dude for renouncing his past and seeing the light: because his friends were proud to be shits and created the party that you brainlessly and unapologetically worship. I mean, it's exactly what you are supporting as soon as you try to pull the Robert Byrd card.

This flip-flop from Northam in the press conference is.... deplorable, I'm afraid.

I mean, who does he think he is? Donald Trump? He can't apologize & say it wasn't him at the same time. It's ridiculous. Northam needs to resign.

Aright basically every Dem of importance in VA says he should resign, including both US senators who are big friends of his.

The legislature may move to remove him. There is no reason to stay put unless he really enjoys further infamy. He’s politically dead in the water.

Know any black people who even 35 years ago walking in on that kind of party would find it funny??

A good sized segment of the South did not associate with black people "even 35 years ago".

My point is... your question would presume that they'd have a voice. Today yes, back then they did not. Entirely different world.

Probably not. The legislature is majority GOP. They'd end up with a black governor & it's great fun watching the Dems chewing on their own neck.
