I've never bought a prepaid phone before and this seems to be better than the others. This phone requires you to keep it activated with minimum of $20 every 90 days while tracfone is every 60 days.
 
Actually I think the current Tracfone promo is a better deal

$94 at the on line www.tracfone.com store gets you:

a nokia 5180 refurb phone (refurbed by nokia- looks like new) great looking blue phone
one year of time prepaid for 150 minutes

that means there are no renewals for a year, the 150 min is good ALL year long
no need to buy any additional cards during that year

not bad for someone like me that only makes very short calls to check in/return emergency calls etc.

And I don't have to worry about it for a year.

The only bad thing is if you wander out of your area, then the minutes are used up twice as fast (roaming=2x the rate of non roaming minutes)
