Not to threadcrap - just to provide additional (albeit unfavorable) info:

5 gigs for $100 - that's outstanding. PC Mag review is excellent. I was really contemplating buying one until I saw some comments on Engadget. Read comment # 30 and on.

The refurbished version is only $80 now on Green Light Special. Given the fact that Virgin Electronics is reportedly dead, I would suggest that brave souls pick up a refurbished one from Geeks. 20% less and no difference in warranty (since the manufacturer is dead).

$89 for a refurbished one is a pretty good deal, but lack of warranty is scary.

if i would've seen this yesterday I would've contemplated it. Just ordered a MuVo TX FM.

it does look REALLY ugly, but it has a good price.

edit: btw the new one's price just jumped to 120 and the refurb is 99. don't forget the shipping, its 8 bucks for me.

Alrighty - I got the player and played around a bit...

The best I can say about it is that it's a huge freakin shame that Virgin didn't put the time in to thoroughly test this. It has a good interface, it's realatively easy to transfer files (though music can't be dragged and dropped, which is irritating as %*&!). Unfortunately after about a week it decided to delete all of my music... then it froze.

I'm going to be calling up Virgin tomorrow... apparently they still honor warantees on these. If they won't do anything, it should still be covered by the geeks.

if anyone would like more details, just ask away!
