Viper II in ONVIA for only $64 after $20 rebate!

Any product made by S3 is questionable. I would rather cough* up the 40 extra dollars and go for a GeForce2 MX, when overclocked, it can be as good as GeForce256 DDR, plus all the extra features of a GeForce2.

just my $0.02

Naw, the Viper is awesome with UT and the S3TC (don't talk about that little hack, it's not very good I've heard), and for 64 bucks, it's worth it (yeah yeah, I got rid of it as soon as I got it, but hey, 64 bucks is cheap!)

Sorry but you can get a GeForce MX for the low to mid $90's and that is just by looking up at Pricewatch. And they DOstill update there drivers and have great support for there product un like what I have heard about S3 (I think S3 sold the graphic's part to VIA I think so that may be why they have a rebate?)
Alrighty then....

But none of them has tv-out solution if you compare with tv-out then its approximately 80 or 90 dollars more.

There is at least one brand of geforce2 mx available with tv out, and it's priced somewhere between the standard mx and the dual-head version.

All I have to say is that the Viper II is a terrible card. I am so glad I got rid of mine. It wasn't that the speed was so bad on it, but the drivers caused so many graphical glitches. Terrible card.

I have a viper II, and have never had any problems with it. Of course im not a hardcore gamer or anything, but the few that i do play look great.

The Viper II is not great, but it's not half bad, either. Decent fps in Quake III, Nocturne, UT. Ah, if only the drivers were better...

I would advise a Mx or a DDR.

I nabbed a ddr for 110 a month ago, the guillemot with tv out and flat panel.

But then I got a GTS. =(

the viper 2 just plain sucks. the first bios revisions dont even work on some bx boards, and tech supports is rude and unhelpful. diamond even offered a trade in to a tnt ultra, from a pervious generation.

makes you think huh?

Steve

The ViperII = a real goat card. I saw it being used in CS once the smoke was a nice black color not the grey its suppose to be it wasn't even transparent and yes it was 32 bit. The 3D drivers really suck good 2D/DVD card though.

DO NOT BUY ANY S3 PRODUCT!!! I had the misfortune of owning one of these pieces of crap, and my machine crashed at least twice everyday. Most people who had the same cards had the same problems, after two months of deluding my self into thinking that Diamond would actually release better drivers I came to realize that their video cards are worthless. I bought a GeForce 2 of this message board and I have to say the difference is incredible. The machine is completely stable now, and the graphics are so much better. Buy any video card you want but S3 products are marginally worse than having nothing at all. I hope no one else makes the blunder I did about this crappy company and its worthless products. :disgust:
