Violet Chessbrainer - and a CB question

How much of a difference does memory settings make? I've got plenty of RAM, so does setting MAX (128MB) really improve over HIGH (64MB)?

Which client do you use? GUI, CLI, or SS? Release or Beta (which one?)

It's v2.1201.01 beta CLI

And, AFAIK, memory doesn't change anything, so having it even lower won't make your client slower [or not too much].

Virtually none. In fact, there a bugs in some versions of the clients when you use anything but the low setting.

I've gotten ahold of v2.1201.02 beta client, as 01 apparently got some problems. How many instances do you run on your PC?

I only run 1 instance on all my PC's except the duallie which i run 2 🙂

I run two for every CPU, real or virtual, the machine has from a single shared directory. I'm also running F@H - one instance per CPU. I give CB normal priority while F@H has low, thus CB gets to interrupt and process when it can. Just finish setting this up on 14 machines (20 instances), so we'll see what 6pm EST update shows.

Is there a way to remove the command line windows when running the CLI?

The config file offers the option to not output anything but is still opens windows on start.

use coolkid's service installer to run the cli all the time with no command prompt.

*ahem* and mine too 😉

The "service" bit is from coolkid, but the GUI installer is my work 😛

Oh, and if you want to use a newer client, just copy it into the directory you extract those files to, and make sure you name it cbspn.exe, and it will use it 🙂
