Not true. What, you think Fisher's always been where it is now? How about Altec Lansing.

OK, you need to get a grip. Pioneer is not high end stuff, they do make some decent higher end stuff now, but it's hardly the best, and that SX-424 is a low end receiver, one step from the bottom, maybe the bottom! I sold this stuff in HS back when it was new!) I had a LOT of problems with Pioneer, Kenwood, and a couple of others. My Pioneer dud rate was about 1 in 10 items, and on some models, I don't remember if the 424 was one of them, it was like 7 or 8 out of 10 were defective (bad solder joints) either right out of the box, or soon after. RMAs were a nightmare and took weeks. I started fixing them myself.

Panasonic/Technics was by far the most reliable stuff I sold, especially the turntables and tape decks. Yamaha was and is very good stuff.

A mighty 12 watts per channel!

They made a lot of huge junky speakers, Japanese speakers in general were to be avoided, they didn't sound good at all, generally.

The Amp was 200W/ch, not all that great.

Put it on ebay, and hope a pioneer junkie goes off the deep end!
