vintage audio component case

I just purchased a philips reciver from the 70's that i will be gutting and installing my micro-atx C2d system into. i am planing including this vfd display behind the clear tuner section and wire the volume knob to one of the knobs on the case. also, to use buttons on the case for power and reset and the activity and power led's in original indicator positions on the case. the plan for the optical drive is either stealth it into the front our use an external enclosure. this will be stacked with an HK citation 12 amp and a pair of pioneer speakers and my 28" lcd for a bedroom system for music and movies.

any ideas what to use the other knobs for or creative ways to include the optical drive in the case? should i leave the tuner needle and display backlight functional? or just get rid of all of it and replace the window with black or etched plexi?

i can't wait to get started on this project.
