His porsche is so sick and makes a pretty awesome noise too. Not to mention his ballsy driving even with a broken foot.

McQueen is just the defacto proper American.

the first few minutes where his porsche darts past a Ferrari (?) is just sheer awesome, especially since porsches back then were powered by what? 1-3 liter engines?

Yah... in a 100 miler motorcycle accident.. Broke it in 6 places... Yeah... I got a cast put on it, we just sorta taped it to the clutch pedal with some sandpaper..

Why can't contemporary race cars look this bloody sexy?

goddamn McQueen knew his race cars. All those race cars at Sebring look so sexy as well.
