i have a viking p5mvp3-at motherboard.no matter what modem i use on it, the modem
always goes on com 1. i dont have my hands on one of those jumper modems. all i have
is win modems.they must be some way to change that in the bios. can some one help me?

Some BIOS's have a setting
"Modem use IRQ **"
Maybe changing that will have an effect.
Look in the .ini or .inf files for the modem.
Edit with notepad & look for references to Com1.
Maybe you can change the # to 2,3,4,or 5 ?
Then reinstall with the edited file.

(Save a copy of the original in case it doesn't work)
