Vigilantes

So..I was cutting the lawn adndthinking about the Punisher for some reason. Then I started wondering why there aren't any well known vigilantes these days. Last big one I remember was Bernie Goetz. You would think more people would be vigilantes of some type. It would be cool to see some news report about someone who was like Batman or the Punisher....or maybe not.....

I wouldn't consider Bernie Goetz a vigilante. Vigilante usually implies hunting someone down for past crimes, rather than using lethal force to defend oneself.

From what I remember - he had previously been mugged and came "prepared" with a gun. I guess I'm defining a vigliante as someone who takes the law into their own hands.
