Viewsonic VX924 19in

Anyone using or used a Viewsonic VX924 19in? For what this looks like in this price range this looks like a tough one to beat:

I like what is being said here:

ViewSonic's innovative Dynamic Structure? and Amplified Impulse? technologies combine to replace blurs and ghosts with pure, vibrant, absolutely clear images.

I love gaming, so I'd like to hear some reports on this for gaming.

THANKS

I have this monitor and it is GREAT. If you are a gamer you will love it. I don't notice any ghosting in games AT ALL. BF2 , CSS, need for speed, etc. for games it looks actually better then my previous CRT 22" viewsonic p220f. The clarity of lcds is so much sharper. This is my first LCD and I reccomened it whole heartedly.

Yeah coopermckay I have to admit, there are some really nice looking claims going on that make you wonder. I mean looking at all that, to me looks like a gamers, multimedia buffs, dream, for quality LCD gaming and DVD playing without killing the pocket.

Unless someone has something to say and knows for a FACT they are crap, I'll most likely buy it.

THANKS

This is another Viewsonic LCD?

THANKS

The 922 is just the next version of the 924. Apparently it's not "really" any faster, and Viewsonic is just changing the way they measure GTG response times.

It's real fast, but only a 6-bit LCD panel, so you don't get full 24-bit color. It also has some issues with sparkling in motion video with subtle color gradations. The VP191b/VP930b are better in this regard, and use 8-bit panels.

What no 32bit color, I thought most LCDs where running in 32bit, well from what Matthias99 is saying this thing don't sound to hot, darn. ;(

Most displays use 24-bit color output. Games render in "32-bit" color, but the last 8 bits are for alpha (transparency) data, and that doesn't get sent to the display (it's just used for internal compositing). There are some professional graphics card/monitor setups that can display more than 24 bits of color data, but these are not in widespread use.

Most "fast" LCD monitors use panels that only have 6 bits for each red, green, and blue subpixel -- this totals to 18 bits per pixel, or 262,144 colors. For more accurate color rendering, you really want a display that uses 8 bits per subpixel, giving the full 24-bit/16.7M color range for each pixel.

Get it, GREAT monitor and its hard to notice the difference between a 6bit and 8bit panel as far as the 6bit having less colors.

An "8-bit" LCD displays the same color range as a CRT monitor (a maximum of 24 bits per pixel, giving 16.7M discrete colors). Please stop confusing the issue.

Ok so I'm a bit lacking in all the bits and what not, so the 8bit panel in a LCD equates into the 24bit?

Thing is I'm a hardcore gamer, building a SLi system, so I don't want to go all out on the mobo side of things, then skimp on a monitor.

I've been into the CRT all this time and have not made the move into the LCD arena, simply because of my lack of understanding in it and if it's only going to cost a little more to get better 24/32 bit color then that's what I want, BUT if something like the 922 will be good enough and anything a few hundreds dollars more isn't going to be noticed and is really a waste, then I certainly don't want that.

LOL, sorry Matthias99 wasn't trying to confuse anything more then me being confused. 😉

Ok well now that this has all been said and I see, who then is really making the nice 19-21" range of monitors that would be great in multimedia, without killing the pocket and have the lowest MS?

THANKS

So is there anything in the 19-21" range of monitors that would be great in multimedia, without killing the pocket and have the lowest MS?

It is the best pure gaming LCD out. However, like other TN panels its veiwing angles are not the greatest and it is poor for watching movies and video editing. I would suggest getting the Viewsonic VP191B.

I run the VX924 and i love it. Picture quality is excellent, games run excellent on it, and it is very easy on the eyes.

ones3k cool and KoolDrew which one are you talking about?, because there have been a few mentioned.

THANKS

Completely depends on your budget. From everything I've read the V191b/V930b are excellent monitors and really the best in their price range.

But in the $300-$350 range, these monitors cannot be considered, where as the VX924 can.

well sometimes, something is expensive, but it isn't necessarily better then cheaper priced models. So at this point I'm not to concerned over thinking and talking prices. I just mentioned the Viewsonic in the beginning at being a good deal for the price, but if the performance isn't going to be as good as I expect then I'd rather spend more.

No point in building a nice SLi system and then hold out on the monitor, so at this point I just want to hear what are the comparable monitors in the 19-21" range and where they stand over cheap price models, if the higher priced ranged monitors are worthy of the cost or the differneces aren't worth it and what truly is the best deal going all the way around.

But if we need to talk money then ok, something in the $400-$700. But I also really want to hear about any and all 19"-21" LCDs higher up.

THANKS

Some people are saying the 191 suffers from ghosting and isn't that great for gaming, so I wasn't to thrilled at that.

I love gaming and watching DivX and DVDs on the box. I'm a multimedia, gaming man, don't want ghosting at all, want gaming performance and great movie watching quality. I'm going to be building a SLi system running 2 evga 7800GT 256-P2-N516 cards. I'm going pretty full out on a SLi system so I want to becareful with my monitor choice, but I don't have a fortune to spend, since most will be going into the box, so really need the best for the buck.

DARN I don't know what to pick, LOL

They say the 930 has backlight problems and Viewsonic is aware of this, but other people are saying they are not having issues. But they are happening for some, or possibly the others aren't aware of this, notice it.

I read someone called Viewsonic and they told them that the VX922 is 8 panel, hmm everyone around here is saying 6, I think I should call them as well.

OK this is it the LAST words, I want either the VX922, VP191b, or VP930b and I really don't know since there are none where I live to see them in action and I've read so many pros and cons on all of them I just don't know which to go with. 🙁

AHHHHHHH I'm going to use this STRESS REDUCTION kit in the meantime:

Get the VP930b, it has slightly better colors with little reduction in speed compared to the VP191b or VX922. I'm pretty sure they're all susceptible to backlight issues, it depends on your unit. Check out my LCD Guide. While the TN-based VX922 is a tad faster, and I mean a tad, it has rather large trade-offs in other areas like viewing angle and contrast.

thanks xtknight, any other thoughts here please, getting ready to buy soon as I can figure which one.

THANKS
