Viewsonic VX900 Pixelated Text

I just bought a ViewSonic VX900 LCD monitor. The native resolutions is 1280x1024. However when I set it to that resolution, the colors on my screen don't appear solid anymore. It's similar to when you increase your CRT monitor's resolution to a really high setting and the screen just looks weird.

I have a LeadTech GeForce3 video card and I'm not using the DVI connector, but just the regular analog connection.

What could be causing this and how do I fix it?
