Viewsonic VX500... AWESOME digital LCD

I just received my Viewsonic VX500 yesterday. Hadn't seen any reviews on it anywhere really. Maybe it's a new model? It has a DVI output as well as analog, I'm using the DVI with my Radeon8500. This monitor totally KICKS! Bright, clear, crisp, and no ghosting at all. I played Deus Ex for a while, and the monitor was just beautiful. I highly recommend it!...

... the only down side are the integrated speakers, which are weak and tinny, but I just turned down the volume and let my regular speakers fill in...

i been looking for a good LCD monitior. how much did this one cost and what speed is your computer?

i was waiting for the VX700 but it still hasn't surfaced. I thought it would look killer with my lian-li 60 case! for a review, check out the new article at THG on LCD Panels...they cover the VX500. I got the Planar like epod above....was happy to have 0 pixel defects and although no way near as sharp as my 19" CRT, i had a good enough session with Urban Terror (Q3 mod) last nite that i am going to retire the CRT, reclaim my desk and start shopping for at DVI card.

Just got the VG191B today, very nice screen, tho it takes some getting used to after viewing a crt for ages.

I have the Viewsonic VG191 too and i think, after two weeks, that it's a very good monitor.

Do you try this monitor in games? Do you notice some ghosting in fast moving games? Which video card do you have?
Thanks .

hunter127: I havn't had time to try games yet, I'm running it on a Visiontek geforce 3, and will try a few games over the weekend, been to busy of late to play any games, but will LYK my experience with it.

Just got a Viewsonic VG191B too. 😀

I've got a crt sitting next to it and it's amazing how sickly the crt looks compared to the LCD. 🙂

Was off the net for a couple days, sorry I didn't get back to you.

I got the VX500 for $510 or so at www.buy.com

I am running it off my new machine:

Dragon+ MB
XP1900+
Radeon 8500 (using the DVI)
512 DDR RAM
two IBM Desktstar 60GB (7200rpm)

To answer hunter127; I installed 3DMark 2001, and ran it @ 1280/1024@16bit,Score of course wasn't that great at that resolution, which was 6484, but the Screen sure was nice. I saw only 1 frame where there was any blurring, and that was only of around the top of the head area in the figure. I dare say that I am Highly Pleased with the VG191B 😉

Another $70 or so buys you the Compaq TFT5030.

Viewsonic VX500:

25ms response time
400:1 contrast
260nits brightness
160 degree v/h viewing
analog/digital

Compaq TFT5030:

20ms response time
400:1 contrast
300nits brightness
170 degree v/h viewing
analog/digital

Just another choice. Both are expensive for 15" though.
