I dont think it is but HDCP is not something I'm bothered by.

Yup, I really hate the idea that in a few years I'll have to buy ALL NEW STUFF to just watch a fvck'n movie.

If I buy it I want to watch it and do what I want with it. How long till HDCP gets hacked anyways?

If the monitor is 22in. and has a res of 1680x1050, WTF is the dot pitch on that thing? Like .3??? I guess if you want something were the text is a little bigger I guess it's alright. But for the size and the res, why not pick something inbetween 1680x1050 and 1900x1200?

Well I was more thinking that I am happy enough with standard DVD movies, plus HDCP seems to be on hold so the spec may well change before its implemented.

The pixel pitch of this monitor is 0.282mm, bigger than the vx2025wm's.
Here's another link with info about it: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/newscontent.htm#vx2235wm
According to tftcentral this is using a 22"WS Chi Mei Optoelectronics S-MVA (M220Z1-L01) Panel. So it is uncertain yet the real specs of this monitor I guess. Hope it's out soon.

Here's a link to a french forum in which there are some pics and comments about this monitor:

Right now, I'm between waiting for this one or getting the vx2025wm...not sure yet.

However the Viewsonic lists 16.7M colors, while the Westinghouse website lists 16.2M colors.

Edit: There is only one 22" panel listed at the Chi Mei Opt web site, so I would assume that both the Westinghouse and ViewSonic are using this panel:

http://www.cmo.com.tw/cmo/english/product/showproductd.jsp?size=22

no I email westy there panel is different, its a tn, 16.2m colors (6bit)

I have found some new info on this monitor and it's strange because it says that it is a TN panel; if that's true then I'll just go for the vx2025wm since it's a p-mva panel but I'll wait to be sure, because that size (22") it's really attracting me instead of the 20.1" of the vx2025wm vertically equivalent to a 17" regular monitor.

"It is about a screen of 22 " with the broad format 16:10, with its flagstone of the type TN which enables him to reach the 5 ms this screen will be appropriate to the players and to the followers of multi-media. The rate of contrast of 700:1 is not among the best, it is once again because of technology TN of the flagstone, however this rate of 700:1 is current enough for the screens of big size and is not sign of bad quality."

Active display area measurements:

19" regular: 376.32(W) x 301.056(H) mm
20.1" wide: 408.0(W) x 306.0(H) mm
22" wide: 473.76(W) x 296.16(H) mm

A 22" widescreen is about 5 mm shorter than a regular 19" screen. A 20.1" screen is actually taller.

22" LCD panels are available from these manufacturers:

CMO M220Z1-L01 (TN) 16.7m, 300 nits, 700:1, 5ms, 170/160
HannStar HSD220MKW1-A (TN) 16.7m, 300 nits, 1000:1, 5 ms, 160/160
LG.Philips LM220WE1 (TN) 16.7m, 300 nits, 1000:1, 5 ms, 160/160
Samsung LTM220M1 (B-TNIII) 16.7m, 280 nits, 1000:1, 5 ms, 160/160

The ViewSonic may be a CMO or HannStar.

I thought the vx2235wm was taller.
I mentioned that the vx2235wm would probably be equivalent to a 19" regular monitor and that the vx2025wm has about the same size (height) as a 17" regular monitor just a lot wider based on this pic:

Do you guys think it's worth it going for a 22 inch widescreen display vs. 19 inch widescreen display?

(does a 19 inch widescreen display seem to small for gaming?)
