Viewsonic VX2025WM vs. NEC 20WMGX2

After seeing the NEC in person, I am seriously considering switching from my DELL 2405 to the smaller NEC my PC is in a dark room and I do alot of gaming, anybody know why I shouldn't do this?

I'd love to get the 20WMGX2 as well, perhaps when its on closeout like the LCD1700GX-BK is right now (its $227 at amazon, marked down from around $350 when it was the current model).

that said I've got a lcd1700GX-BK and i dontthink i could get another LCD that doesnt have this type of quality.

I have a samsung 204b as well which I got on a good deal. I thought about replacing my 17" NEC with this 20" samsung, but I suppose you really do get what you pay for. The samsung is supposed to be a pretty decent monitor, but compared to the NEC it looks washed out, uneven contrast / brightness etc. I have never had a monitor that was as good as the NEC and the 20" version is supposed to be even better with faster refresh , 8-bit color etc.

I do disagree though with the whole video card costing more than monitor thing. If you are a gamer, the video cards can easily cost more and i dont think thats a bad thing at all.


I wouldn't get like a x1900xt with a crappy $150 monitor though. that just seems not right. But a $400 monitor paired with 2 x1900xts i think is very much realistic for a hardcore gamer.

NEC makes wicked stuff, I have an old FE700 tube monitor still, to this day it still has one of the best pictures I've ever seen on a standard consumer monitor. (no joke)

NEC policy follows the ISO 13406-2 standard for dead pixels.

For monitors with a native resolution of 1600x1200 (typically 20" or larger monitors):
? More than 6 sub pixels permanently ON or OFF
? More than 10 sub-pixel faults
? More than 1 sub pixel defects (ON or OFF) within a 5x5 pixel area (cluster)
? More than 3 clusters, each 5x5 pixels, with sub-pixel faults present

Although this is for 1600x1200 it should be very close to the 1680x1050 rule since the pixel delta is very close between the two.

I wholeheartedly recommend the NEC. Nothing but pure quality. Excellent color and blacks with the DVM mode on.

i have the 2025 and it's awesome.

I have yet to see the NEC though.
