Viewsonic VP930B....Yes or No?

I am thinking about buying this for a new system. Gaming, office apps, web browsing usage. Typical home computer I guess. The problem is very few dealers around my area have viewsonics, just a few LG's, Sony, and Samsung. So i have to rely on reviews and opinions to make my choice.

The VP930b doesnt seem to be the best at anything but pretty decent as an all around unit.

If not this monitor, what would you recommend?

If you can get it for a good price, then I would say "go for it." ViewSonic has a good reputation and they provide a 3-yr warranty with this monitor. Plus, this monitor has a DVI connection which is the way I would recommend you connect to your video card. However, I am not sure if ViewSonic includes the DVI cable. Bottom line - I think you will be happy with this monitor if you decide to buy it.

I highly recommend the VP930b, but the price seems to keep going up on it as of late. It does include both a DVI and D-sub cable. If you're worried about it ghosting in games I can tell you that I've never seen it. The color and contrast rock on this monitor.

Tomshardware rated that one of the best panels IIRC.

I'd get it.

ide say read user reviews on websites until the backlight bleed problems dissapear for a good while then order it. The 970p is also a good monitor but is much more expensive.

I highly recommend the VP930b. I own a VP191b which is older and has only 800:1 contrast ratio as opposed to the VP930b's 1000:1. I have compared my VP191b headsup with a TN panel (Samsung 930B) and I have to say TN panels can suck dick.

You can't go wrong with the VP930b if you're willing to pay for that. Colors are wonderful. Someone said they're not sure if a DVI cable is included, but I'm quite positive there is one. The VP191b came with both DVI and VGA cable, so I'm sure they would continue with the VP930b.

I bought the VP930b about 2 weeks ago thanks to some advice on here.

I'm very happy with the monitor. Probably one of the best LCD monitors I've ever seen.

Makes me realize how much my HP 17" LCD at work sucks. :)

Paid $410 shipped for it at ZZF. I'd highly recommend the VP930b.

Very nice monitor; certainly the nicest LCD I've owned (other than the 2405FPW I briefly had in my possession; see my lengthy 2405FPW vs. VP930b review thread for gory details). Colors look good; backlighting is *slightly* uneven, but with the contrast toned down, it's barely visible. I can see it if I look for it on a completely black screen, but that's about it.

The only knock I can make against this monitor is that on transitions from very dark colors to slightly less dark colors, there is an odd ghosting effect that I believe is due to the Overdrive functionality of the panel. If you play very dark games like Thief, this could be distracting. In any sort of high-contrast situation (light->dark or dark->light), or any transitions between bright colors, it looks fantastic. It's also (relatively) expensive for a 19" LCD at ~$380-400 (plus shipping), but it's probably the best one available right now, so the price is somewhat justified.

Also, the monitor *does* include a DVI cable. In my earlier review I had said it didn't, but it was just buried in the bottom of the box (I found it when I went to throw away the box). It is a relatively *short* cable, however; I ended up ordering a 3m one so that it could be routed around behind my desk without being stretched taut.
