Hello, I am planning to upgrade my samsung 730b to viewsonic vp930b but what is making to delay is that I don't for sure if the x shape backlight bleeding problem has been already fixed by viewsonic.
Another monitor I'm considering is the samsung 940b or 940be although I'm starting to prefer the viewsonic vp930b.

Thanks in advance for any comment on this matter.

I have it, AFAIK it's not fixed but the bleeding really isn't all that bad as people make it out to be.

However, if your going to buy a monitor now, I recommend the Viewsonic VX2025wm. First off, if you buy any monitor now I'd suggest a WS monitor, second the VX2025 is a 20.1in WS that is only $10 more than the VP930b. Good deal. (edited it since before I said it was cheaper, lol)

Mine should come by Thurs of this week.

Welcome to AT.

Thank you wizboy11.
Yes, I was also looking that one, in fact, the vx2025wm was among my 3 choices: vp930b, samsung 940b and vx2025w. I'm goint make the decision in a couple of days.
But there are some things which I am hesitant about.
- The vx2025wm doesn't scale, and I would have to configure the scaling issue through the video card and sometimes this is not possible, mainly in the 7900gt cards.
- The vx2025wm is as tall as a 17" lcd monitor, so you lose some height in favor of some extra width area.

Here's a interesting link about that:

I thought that all LCDs could be configured to scale. But if you were going to get a monitor now, WS is pretty much the way to go. All new games support it and the Wide Screen Gaming Forum has a way to make it work with almost all other games.

Mine should get here by Thurs. (July 20th), so if you could wait till then I can give you a side by side shot with my VP930b (also how I like it :))

I'm sure that a lot of other members here at AT will agree and say to go with the WS monitor. But in the end, you make the decision.

Have Fun :)

Thanks, I'd appreciate that, it's going to be interesting to see those two viewsonic monitors side by side, comparing image quality and other issues, :).

So, you wouldn't mind upgrading to a monitor (vx2025wm) which is not as tall (17" aprox) as the one you currently have (vp930b) ?

Nope :)

I'm looking forward to the WS monitor. I'll find out in 2 days. I'll PM you and post in this thread w/pics. (or probably just start my own thread :))
