The 201B is a direct competitor with the 2001fp (not the 2005fpw), and IIRC uses the exact same panel.

What panel might that be, and is this a good thing?

IIRC there are no backlight issues on the 2001FP, that are present in many of the 2005FPW's.

i would go with dell monitor since it has 3 years warranty. I don't know about Viewsonic.

I payed $745 for a refurbished at Newegg a year ago so this price is excellent especially for a full fledged NEW..mine is VS 201b BTW and worth every penny and without a single issue or dead pixel..perfect.

3 yr warranty on the viewsonic as well. I would take the viewsonic. I have had 3 of them and they are all still functioning 5+ years later. Course those are their crts.

Have read mixed results with the LCDs gimper48, but so far my friend has reported no problems on the monitor :thumbsup: (she bought it for me and gets to use it for 1 month!)

thefish8 - don't think these are refurbished... they shipped the monitor in its actual box so that's why it may have been dirtied. The top wasn't even taped shut :roll:
