Since VX900 costs $999, technically if Dell carried it, you could apply the 15% coupon and get it for $850. That means perhaps this deal isnt so HOT afterall??

I think VX900 looks just as good if not better than the VG191. It looks more like part of household appliance rather than a computer screen.

So why is VG191 cost $250 more than VX900 at newegg?
Is it really worth the extra $250 to have a pivoting screen??

VX900 under neweggs website states native resolution to be 1024x768, max 1280x1024. On viewsonic website, native is 1280x1024.
I beleive the second is correct though.

Does anyone know if the VX900 tilts forward and backward and raised and lowers on the stand?

Well, I haven't heard anything more from Compaq. I guess this time no news is good news for this kind of deal. Sorry all of us didn't get in on this deal, but it sounds like a few people may get their order and others have a tough decision to make. I would just go for the Planar 19" on Dell with the discounts. It's a good monitor for the price and all the Planar's have USB hubs built in and speakers as well, just my 2¢. If anyone hears anything more or actually gets their monitor let us know. :)

We have a room full of VX900's at our Uni. For text it looks absolutely stunning. But I've noticed that it blurs quite a bit when I do scrolling.

You have any idea if they are using a DVI or VGA out to the monitor? Also, were you scrolling in Internet Explorer or some other app? I find that that Smooth Scrolling option for Internet Explorer makes me want to barf so I turn it off.

They were all hooked up through DVI. I was scrolling in IE, notepad...etc
And all I can say is, the blurring was BAD(ugly). But other than that it's a beautiful display with wide viewing angles.

Newegg only has 9 vg191 in stock.

Compaq are full of it. They are filling some orders with the coupon and denying others with no rhyme or reason to it. They are going to be getting a strongly worded e-mail from me.

My new delivery date is now 5-7-2002, I wonder if it got pushed back again. This deal may just drag on forever. :( I wonder how far back they think they can keep pushing back the delivery dates and not get people mad. I'm still 70% convinced to wait it out and get the monitor, if for nothing else but to make Compaq pay for the deal. If they keep this up though (pushing back shipping dates), then the monitors will be priced that low anyway (eventually). :)

Yeah, just hang in there.

I wish I knew how Compaq was deciding who gets this and who doesn't. Those of you who haven't received emails, just count your blessings and patient. The longer this drags on the, the more reason you have to yell at Compaq if things go sour.

As for those who didn't get in on this, that's the way Hot Deals go. Sometimes you get lucky, other times you don't.

This is nothing compared to how long it took to get the SGI deal a while back. Now that was patience and in the end it paid off. And you really can't fault SGI for the delay, they were way overwhelmed with demand.

As for Compaq, if they are using the distributor I think they are, they should be getting them at the end of the month.

I picked this up at another site.

Compaq weaseling out of LCD monitor hot deal: Everyone who ordered a Viewsonic VG191 19" LCD flatpanel monitor for $805 from Compaq.com two weeks ago will have their orders cancelled. Compaq decided not to fulfill anyone's order at that price, claiming that the product was unavailable even though the product is still available for purchase on their website for $350 more ($280 more after 20% discount). They are attempting to pull a classic bait-and-switch, encouraging people to purchase the newer more expensive model at full price.

The NEC LCD1850 18" LCD flatpanel monitor for the impressive $647 purchase price appears to still be available.

Comments.

Noone's received their monitor yet. If one of us does recieve it, then you can have a fit. Why are you trying to ruin the deal for those who still have a chance??

If none of us get the monitor will you feel better??

true Hot deals have a slim chance of going through. If it doesnt, there will be others. besides LCDs are dropping in price right now. Im sure VX900 will come down to 850 soon.

Weel, I got this bad news just today:

Dear ********,

Your order # ***** placed on 4/13/2002 is currently on backorder. I apologize
for the inconvenience this delay may cause you. Unfortunately, we will
not be able to honor the 20% discount due to this coupon being for existing
customers. I did some research and found that there were no prior orders
placed by you before this order.

These items are currently constrained for your order:

VG191 Monitor

I understand your current selection is your first choice. It may be possible
to change this item on your order. The following options are available
to you:

* Maintain your order with no change.

* Change your selection.

* Cancel your order by calling 800/888-0292. At the voice prompt select
option 3, option 1 and then option 1.

Please contact me via email if you wish to make any changes, which may assist
in the processing of your order. If your order continues to be delayed,
I will contact you again.

Thank you for choosing Compaq for your technology needs.

Sincerely,

Kylie Coffey

Looks like I may not have gotten this deal after all. I called in and the CSR didn't say anything about my monitor excpet it would ship out early next week, the question is will I get it for the $800 as is says on my invoice or will they charge me $1000 or the full price of $1300? I wonder how I can call in to ask without messing up the deal, if there is a deal to be had anymore. It looks like I'm still in line to get the VG191, but at what price?

I'd say you "maintain your order with no changes". They authorized a determined amount on your card that you agreed to, they can't change it without notification by you.

I was thinking the same thing about waiting too, I figured the same thing about the charges, but if they try and charge me the inflated ($1000) or full price I'd rather order from Dell and then use my BVG on a monitor from them. I guess I'll wait a little while longer and see what happens. ;)

Nothing has changed on my order page except for the Cust. Quoted Delivery Date, it's changed from April 17th to April 30th finally to May 7th. I guess if they keep pushing it back, I will grow tired of it and just cancel my order, but I'm willing to wait for a little while longer. :) Now to answer your questions:

Credit Type: Approved
Credit Status: Credit Approved
Credit Terms: CREDIT CARD

My credit hold was removed last week and just the delivery date has been changing and it's been changing the wrong way too (pushed back). :) Has anyone else found out anything new? I called in and talked to someone in billing and they said someone would call me today (with in 2 hours) and it's been over that now, so we'll see if it's like the other time I was supposed to receive a phone call last week (never called). :)

I had several emails back and forth...I changed from the VG191B to the VX900, but I'm thinking of canceling. I am now willing to settle for an 18" for $1000 if I get it in a week. I can't find a reputable vendor who has the Samsung 181T in stock now... :|

mines pushed back to the 14th so no idea. But i heard that from BBB that a store is entitled to sell an item that they rightfully advertise or something to that extent.

dell has 20% off, plus free shipping, and you can even slap on the $10 coupon (its a shame the $25 and $50 have expired already)

dell 19" and larger lcds

the 19" is a deadringer for the samsung 191t...after discounts it comes out to around $1k
not sure about the 20", its eitehr samsung or nec

Scepter 19" can also be had for $920 at dell. Just wait for another 15% coupon to come across and you can bring it down to $800.

VX900 can be had for $999 at newegg.

Choices, choices...

Guess Im just gonna wait for another price mistake to come across if this doesnt go through.
