<< Well my order fell in the black hole of "invalid coupon use" so I decided to go ahead and get the equivalent Planar 19" from Dell with the 10% off and $50 off $400 coupons which were stackable. What also made it appealing was the free overnight shipping and no tax from Dell (while the viewsonic was taxed by Compaq). I only ended up paying $80 more than I would have for the Viewsonic which is ok. The Planar 19" is very sweet. I compared it to the NEC 18'1" that you can get from Compaq with the 20% code and the Planar blows it away. Text is much more sharp and clear on the Planar (the NEC is only analog). I think those of you who get the Viewsonic will be happy. I am very happy woith this Planar. Got rid of my enormous 21" CRT and now I have desk space again. >>

only $80 more??

How much was the planar when you checked out??

<< Well, deal may still be on. I ordered another monitor through Dell and they said there was a problem processing my CC, so I figured that maybe Compaq put a hold on my account, so I checked and sure enough they have taken the CREDIT HOLD off my account and have processed my order. I talked to a Compaq person and she told me that it was on back order, but I would get it for the $800 (plus shipping and tax). Well, now I'm in the process of trying to talk to a person at Dell to cancel my order. I could keep the Dell order and pay a little more and have the monitor next week, but $800 for the ViewSonic is too good not to wait for. :) Anyway, has anyone else heard from Compaq or have the CREDIT HGOLD removed from their order? Just giving everyone a heads up. :D >>

Very cool. The Credit Hold is still showing on my order, but I can be patient. It's not like I really need the thing.

Now on my order under Line Item Detail, I see that the Whse# is NJ. Meaning that if and when my VG191b ships, it will be coming from the New Jersey warehouse. Does anyone know if Compaq really has a warehouse in New Jersey? Because one of my distributors has a warehouse out there and according to the distributor database, they are expecting a shipment of VG191bs on 4/30. So this leads me to believe Compaq may be drop shipping them from that distributor. This is all conjecture based on coincidence. I have no hard proof.

My Whse# is IN, I guess meaning Indiana. My order is supposed to be shipped out overnight, so in theory (a lot of theories with this order, but what else do we have?) I will have it on May 1. :) I called in today to try a change the charge from my AMEX to my Visa and the CSR basically did her best to talk me out of doing that. She told me that if I changed the CC and there were ANY (she really stressed the any) problems it would move my order to the back of the line. I asked her how close I was to the back of the line anyway, but she couldn't tell me that. :) Even though I knew there wouldn't be a problem, I just left it as is, I don't want anything to upset this "fragile deal". ;)

Well, I was thinking the same thing. IF compaq really wanted to cancel the order, I think they had plenty of time to do it by now. It's been over a week already.

I can understand how they're backorder too.
No warehouse is willing to hold 250 $1300 monitors.

Here is my story. Ordered in 4/13. No confirm email until now. Called compaq dozen times. First I was told there was something wrong with credit card authorization because the billing address and shipping address is different. Then in 4/16, I was told the order had soemthing wrong. They need communicate other dept to honor the order. I kept calling them to ask the result. Today, I was told that they will switch my order from VG191B to VX900 if I want to get it. I checked on pricewatch and found that VX900 is $200 cheaper than VG191B. However the spec is almost same except that VX900 doesn't have pivot which I don't think I will use it. Does anyone here know about the difference between VX900 and VG191B? Any suggestions?

Ah, interesting. This distributor I'm thinking of has a warehouse in South Bend, IN too. Along with Swedesboro, NJ.
For the people who have had their CREDIT HOLDs removed, are you getting a VG191 (biege) or a VG191B (black)?

According to the Viewsonic specs, they look to be the same flat panels in different casings. The VX900 lacks a tilt, but it does have a pair of integrated speakers (wimpy, don't bother using them).

I believe the reason why Compaq may be trying to substitute them is that the distributor I think they are getting them from has a $110 reseller instant rebate on the VX900, meaning Compaq must be trying to give people the same value, but lessen the blow to their bottomline.

I am sure Compaq get VX900 for cheap price. However, I still feel confuse about their price difference. I think VX900 has cooler appearance. It is newer than VG191. I will go with it. Hope it is good decision. Thank you for your reply.

telamon, I'm getting the VG191. I've called Compaq a few times already and it does look like most people will be getting the deal or some variation there of. I'm getting the VG191 for $800 and shipping and tax (they let me use the coupon). I've called in and made sure that my order was going through because if it wasn't I was going to jump on Dell's deal and then use the BVG with my AMEX card before that ends too. Anyone else hear from Compaq or get any different deal from them? They told me that I would be getting a call, but that call never cameand they just processed my order, so any of you that ordered and didn't get a call check your on-line invoice and see if it has a ship date for you too. I feel sorry for Relayer, that's a VERY long time to be waiting for a monitor. ;)

I just called for status. At least this time they didn't say there was a problem...just backordered until the end of April. (next week) Looks like I am getting it eventually. I didn't tell her that on the online status it said I would get it in 2098. Then again, she didn't say what year in April...

After i called back to the rep for credit department she was very nice and called me back after varifying my order with credit card company. Within an hour i got a confirm email
Saying it'll be shiped 5/1/02. If this arrives I'm definately giving compaq a reseller rating ofr 100% since they honor their mistakes.

Ok just received this email:

Dear ********,

We really appreciate your order that was placed on 4/14/02.

However, we regret that the VG191B is out of stock. We would like to honor your request and fulfill your order with the Viewsonic VX900, which is a new model of the Viewsonic 19" LCD family.

The VX900 is a two tone, silver and black monitor with identical specifications, it has the same SuperClear MVA technology with OptiSynch Analog/Digital capability. The VX900 has in addition multimedia capability with 2 x 3 watts speakers with a microphone. Attached is a document, which compares the two monitors and/or spec sheets. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer the 20% discount since you are not a prior customer, but will honor the discounted price of $999.99.

I understand your current selection is your first choice. The following options are available to you:

· Change your selection, or

· Cancel your order.

§ Unless we hear from you by April 26, 2002, federal regulations require that your order be cancelled, as Compaq will be unable to ship your order as entered.

Please feel free to contact me via email if you wish to make a change which may assist in the processing of your order. Thank you for choosing Compaq for your technology needs.

Sincerely,

I looked at the VX900 and I think i'd rather have an all black than a two tone. The VX900 seems to go for $1050 so $999 isn't that great a deal.

I got the same email regarding my VG191B order.

Did anyone that ordered a VG191 (beige) get the same email?

The VX900 is $1029 shipped from newegg and that's not taxable for most of us. At $999.99 from Compaq, the tax makes it about $1080 for me after shipping. So I think I'll pass.

Those of you who got the email, have you guys ever received an order confirmation? If so, did the status ever change to approved??

I replied to Compaq's email. They are telling me they do not have any VG191B monitors and are not ever getting any. They offered the VX900 and that's it. The VG191B is still listed on their web site for sale...they didn't know that they just lost $60,000 in sales for Compaq D500's for my company. Dude, I'm buying Dells from now on.
