Viewsonic VE910 is too bright

hi,

i bought recently the 19" viewsonic ve910.
problem: out of the boxx the monitor was too bright.
i played with the contast and brightness. so working in windows is now ok.
if i see a movie dvd or play a game then the black areas of the monitor are too bright
so they look like grey. F.E.A.R. as an example is almost unplayeble if you enter a dark area.
Has anyone a solution or is the monitor defect?? is my display adapter not ok(ati radeon 9800pro)????

Is this your first LCD monitor?

LCD blacks will never be totally black (until newer technolgies appear...).

Ive used 2 monitores, a 17" LG, and my current monitor, Dell 2405fpw, and the dell has far better blacks than the LG. None of them compare to my old 19"CRT though....
