ViewSonic VB50HRTV & Microsoft XBOX -- any help, please? :)

I know this isn't really the forum for XBOX-related issues, but since this is a "video-related" question, and AT Forums is the only forum I am registered at (and I don't want to sign up to a new forum just to ask one question), I'll take my chances... and hope I don't get booed at. ;)

Anyway... while searching for a VGA-adapter for my XBOX, I stumbled across this device, the ViewSonic VB50HRTV. Apparently it can be used as an allround VGA-box for all consoles (the main reason I am thinking of buying it), and to watch telly on your VGA monitor.

Now my question is, which XBOX accessory do I buy for this device? The device has S-video input, but I'm not sure whether I would need the High Definition AV Pack, or the Advanced AV Pack. From the pictures on the XBOX website, I can't figure out which one has an S-video connector. On top of that, here in the Netherlands, they don't sell the High Definition AV Pack, so whether I can use the "regular" Advanced AV Pack or not will make quite a difference for me. I don't mind importing the High Definition edition, but if I can save money by getting the Advanced edition instead, I'd be stupid not to... :)

So anybody who has one of these AV Packs, please tell me whether it has S-video?

Oh, and if anybody has the ViewSonic VB50HRT, don't hesitate to post about your experiences. All the reviews are positive, but how does it hold out there in the real world?

Thanks, and sorry for bein' a little off-topic... :)

you can get a simple s-video pack thingy for the xbox

link (though not sure if they'll deliver to where you live or what not

advanced pack will also get you svideo, but also gives you a digital sound out, which you probably won't need

so if you want to save money, just get the 'svideo pack'

otherwise, go with the advanced

hope this helps

I don't have experience with the XBOX, but the VB50 is a reasonably good scaler/tuner. I use it to receive and scale tv signals up to 1024x768 for my projector.

OK, thanks guys! Guess I'll be gettin' that ViewSonic thingy then, and the cheap S-video pack... save myself even more money! ;)

Although... could I use that Advanced AV Pack to hook up my XBOX to the 5.1 DTT3500 (Cambridge SoundWorks) speaker system? Or will these not work?

Oh, wait... wrong forum. Need to post in Audio or something for that. ;)

Thanks again!
