My viewsonic monitor has been acting up for more than 6 months and I get wavy lines if I turn the brighness level down and after this problem my brightness level was also fading.

So I sent my monitor for repair and I include everything that was included in the retail box on end of December and they received on the the 7th of January. So I wait 3 weeks and still on repair. Supposedly on the 16th business day Viewsonic isn't able to to fix it I get a replacement. On the 19th business day I give them a call and they told me something like inventory didn't take place until the 12th of January and that they can't send me a replacement even though it's been 19 business days since they received it. So I ask for email of the Customer Service dept and I emailed them letting them know my frustration. I get an email back next day telling me I will get a replacement. My original monitor had a DVI connection and they were trying to replace it with a lower model with no dvi connection. So I asked them for one with DVI connection and they told me they fixed my monitor instead and it's on it's way.

I finally got my monitor back not in my original box I sent but in some RMA box with no power cord or dvi cables. It was also missing the back plate of my monitor. So I emailed them supposedly they will send me the power cables and dvi cables but no back plate of my monitor. The funny thing is the monitor now makes wavy lines when I first turn on the monitor which it didn't do before. I have to wait a good minute or two until the image settles down.

What should I do in this situation?

Just a guess, but did you try to call their corporate number? If not you might get better support from the corporate office.

I think this is these are both corporate office numbers.

My friend sold me his old 22" viewsonic optiquest for $160 cdn. I figured it was a sweet deal, its only <6 months old and it looked alright when I see it at his place, but honestly the quality is so bad when I really played around with it, I woulda rather paid 50 bucks more for a budget 22" new. Sigh.

Edit: and a bit more, I bought this for my brother for whom I just built a new pc for. He gave me $200 for doing it which was way too much so I got him a monitor cus he uses a 17" from many years back. Honestly, I felt bad giving him this one, and still do. sigh again.

My monitor looks washed out after 2 years of use and started showing wavy lines after 1 year 4 months. I get warranty service and they don't even fix the problem in the process don't ship all the items sent to them.

Why is this company still in business?

Just google the horrible experiences people have had with viewsonic warranty dept.

Hmm, I've used a wide variety of Viewsonic monitors with zero issues. We have about a dozen at work, and I've had 4 or 5 at home between my brother and I. We even have a mid-90s-era CRT sitting at a print server that still works. Am using a Soyo now though.

Guess it's luck of the draw as with everything. Sorry to hear your bad experience with the RMA.

About the search regarding bad experience with RMAs, you do realize that your search string will produce tons of results with any company. Replace 'Viewsonic' with Asus, Intel, Apple, Honda, you name it, and you'll get heaps of hits. People love to complain, and this thread proves it. I'm in no way contradicting that you have had a bad experience, and they are not treating you right, just pointing out that if you had a decent ordinary experience with them this thread would likely not exist.

I've had tons of decent RMA encounters, and I never post threads on them. But I did have bad experiences with Sprint and Sirius Radio, and boy do I love to bitch about them whenever the opportunity arises ;)

Here's hoping your next RMA experience goes smoother.

I always used to buy Viewsonic CRT. They were great. I'm not sure about their LCD's.

I'm not the only one having this issue with this wavy distorted images when you set brightness down. This problem is rather common with this particular model.

It takes a month and they didn't fix the problem instead give me another problem and don't send me everything I sent. This is rather poor service. I've been emailing them back and forth for few days and I feel like they are giving me the run around.

I had to RMA a viewsonic a few months ago. It took over a month to receive the new product back.

Only a month ?? We sent in a Viewsonic VG2030wm last year and it took 2.5 months for them to send a replacement !! Unfortunately, this was for my boss's PC, so she started questioning why the RMA was taking so long after over a month.

Update it looks like I should get a replacement after bunch more emails to their web site and their complaint dept. I'm wondering how long it will take after I send this monitor back and get a replacement.

Where I live, not US btw, the Viewsonic customer service is superb. I called the warranty desk or whatever, told my LCD was broken, they just asked the serial number on it, and when I purchased it. Then a guy came a few days later with a brand new one and took the old one away. On-site warranty FTW :) And my VP2030 was over 2 years old. So don't tell me Viewsonic sucks. Your system sucks :D
