A neighbor was throwing out her heavy CRT, so I offered to take it. It's absolutely mint, she says she's barely used it and I believe it. I connected it to my 970 via DVI-A to BNC cable and it is sharp as a tack at 1600x1200 at 75Hz. I can get it to 120Hz at 1280x960, but I'm pretty sure that I can get it close to 90Hz at 1600x1200 if I tinker a bit more.

It's not quite as versatile as my FW900, being 4:3 and not supporting higher refresh rates and resolutions, but DAMN it's a nice display. My FW900 has started to get a bit fuzzy in the corners whereas this is sharp.

Sorry, I have to reply to my own post. Gotta say... I'm just in love with this monitor. After working out some more custom resolutions and DSR settings, I just continue to be impressed. It's just so sharp and contrast and colors are just magnificent and that fluid, seamless motion... Also, I forgot what a CRT without an aperture grille looks like after all these years of using the FW900. It makes me want to rant (again) about what a shame it is that we have abandoned CRT technology.

If a realistic crowdsourcing campaign ever attempts to revive CRT, I will sign up. I assume AU Optronics is not going to do anything with its SED/FED patents they bought.
