both flatscreen 19" monitors... the samsung is like $50 more expensive at newegg but only $10 more at oxfordpc where im ordering my next comp from... 😕

any comments on either one? i own a pf790 and am quite happy with it except for the weird purple marks on the top left corner of the screen and the 2 lines across the screen... but i hear the 2 lines are common on large crts...

the samsung has a much lower dot pitch so im guessing it has cripser images??

which should i get? assuming price is not an issue...

I had the same questions a few months back, ended up with the PF790 and have not regretted it for one minute. However, there are a lot of Samsung fans out there so I am sure you will get many farovable replies. For me, even though the Samsung had a great display I thought the case was just plain butt ugly. That's just my opinion. I also like Fords now but I still drive a Chevy... go figure.

I think either one would be great, but as far as the dot pitch both have a .25 rating according to the reviews. The Viewsonic does admit a .27 at the corner. I can't see it and it doesn't bother me at all. Regarding the two thin lines, all Ap-Grill CRT's have those to add stability to the grid.

Purple marks at the top of the screen? Hmmm... not over here.

If I had it to do over again I wouldn't change a thing. The Viewsonic PF790 is a great monitor for the money.

the for the input! 🙂

btw do u not get any purple marks at the corners of your monitor? and yeah i admit that viewsonic monitors look a lot nicer.... 😉

I can't say that I have any purple marks, spots or anything in the corner. When I first got it I *think* I might have seen a slight discoloration in the uppe left corner, but I degaussed and haven't noticed it since.

I like my PF790. No distortions though.

I'm thinking that if you own a PF790 and are considering replacing it, you either have it misadjusted
(you know you can adjust the purity with the on-monitor menus, right? I think this is your problem)
or have a defective monitor.

anyway, samsung is good too. just hate to see you throw away a monitor if all it need is some TLC.

I suggest reading the manual that came with it and attempt adjustment before discarding it.
