Viewsonic Monitors

I'm planning on buying a a viewsonic g75f 17 inch monitor. I was wondering what your opinions are on viewsonic monitors and particularly the g75f. The g75f is supposed to be able to do 1280X1024 at 80 Hz which sounds pretty good. Is 1280X1024 too large of a resolution for a 17 inch monitor?

I've seen the G75f and it looks great. Quality picture but I don't know how it looks running a game. I have a Graphic Series G90f and I run a lot of games on it. Awsome. Keep the shiny side up and the dirty side down.

Personally I think 1280x1024 (you should use 1280x960 to keep your aspect ratio correct) is too high for a 17. I run 1280x960 on my 19s and it's fine. If you sit relatively close to the monitor or if your eyes are particularly good (mine aren't 😎 ) 1280x960 might be acceptable. Ask to change the resolution @ a store that sells monitors to see if it's acceptable for you.

I've got about 3 or 4 of them and been satisfied. I use 1024x768 on my 17" (E771) and only use the 1280x1024 on my 21/22" monitor. Mine are all CRT, not familiar w/the model you quote

I've had a number of ViewSonic/OptiQuest (same compnay) monitors over the years and been happy with them all. I'm currently running a e790 (3.5yrs old) at 1280x1024x32bpp @ 85Hz.

G70f is great for graphics as it is specifically built as a graphics design monitor(shadowmask), though if your main usage isn't graphics, i'd go for the A90f or the P90f

I had a G70f and it was a great buy for $40, but I sold it for $50 and I was happy to see the thing go. I know someone that has been running a 19" ViewSonic for 3+ years almost constantly and it's still going. I haven't really heard anything bad about ViewSonic, and I can't think of anything bad either.

Viewsonic all the way. I have had my 19" Viewsonic PF790 for over 3 years and not one problem and very crisp.

Good luck,

thanks guys, I'm also thinking about buying the Viewsonic g71f+ as well. This uses an aperture grille and I've heard people have problems with the Viewsonic p95f which is also an aperture grille so i'm not sure if I want to buy the g71f. Almost everybody agrees that the p95f displays graphics/games amazingly, but many also complain about text being fuzzy. Any comments?

The P90f is not an aperture grille monitor, it's a stripe pitch. The P95f is an aperture grille. I have a P90f, and actually, I like it quite a bit. The only complaint I think one could make is that it takes a little while to warm up, and until it does it has some geometry issues. I've noticed people complaining about fuzzy imaging in the middle of the screen as well, but I've only noticed this when cranking the refresh rates past what Viewsonic officially supports (their drivers allow for refresh rates beyond what they actually support). Otherwise, it's crisp, bright, high-res imaging all the way.

So, I don't think the P90f is the best monitor I've ever used, but I'm happy with it, I think it'll serve me well until I can afford a 21" or 22" monitor.

All the viewsonic monitors I've seen and used, have been excellent. Im currently using the UltraBrite E90f+SB CRT monitor: E90f+SB Viewsonic.

The ultrabrite toggle button is very handy, it really does improve the way games look. The monitor itself displays very well even at 1600x1200 the picture is amazingly crisp and detailed.... Now if only I upgrade my Radeon 8500 le. 🙂

Overall the ViewSonic monitors are amazing in my opinion, and it seems everyone elses thats posted. 🙂
