Viewsonic G90fb or NEC FE990-BK

I've been looking at 19" CRT's for the past couple days and have narrowed my decision down to these two. They are the best monitors I can afford on my budget (~$200). I am having a terrible time deciding between the two though. I will use the monitor for school (programming and word processing), internet, gaming, and maybe movies. Please help me out!

I just noticed the NEC is slightly more compact which is a plus. Looking forward to your opinions...

I'm planning on getting one of these monitors tomorrow evening (Fri) so I'd really like to see some opinions on them.

I think they are both great monitors. However I do plan to purchase that Viewsonic or a larger 21"

I do also have to say NEC makes a HELL of a monitor, crisp color and text...

I say it's a toss up..

Go for which ever you like or whatever fits your budget better.

Thanks. They do both look good don't they? What makes it esepecially hard to decide is that they both cost the same (just over $200 shipped). So budget isn't an issue in this case.

I'm still reading what reviews I can find on them -- it sounds like I can't go wrong either way. I just hate making decisions by flipping a coin

Well I have found that a lot of people really like the Viewsonic G90fb. I did a poll recently and found the Viewsonic G90fb to be preferred more than the Samsung SyncMaster 957MB, which is around $283-$300 online. I am in the same boat as you...I want to choose between these two and it is impossible to choose. I have ruled out most Trinitrons and DiamondTrons because I found people to say the diamondtrons, like the FE991SB, have fuzzy text and the Sony FD Trinitron monitors and IBM ones are wayyy too expensive.

I would say to buy the G90fb, but mine is based purely on an overwhelming majority recommending it to me.

I have the G90FB which just came here monday. IT IS FOLKING AWESOME! Superclear technology rocks! I got mines $206 shipped/no tax from dell.com. If you want even higher resolution you can get the P90FB for $25 more. But I think dell's 10% discount already expired.

The only difference between the two is that the Viewsonic can do a little higher res than the NEC, but it's pretty unlikely you'll run more than 1600*1200 anyway. If you can find them in a B&M store have a look at them and pick which ever one looks better to you. If nothing else choose the cheapest one that you can find from a reputable seller.

I don't think you can go wrong either way though, so if all else fails flip a coin.
