Viewsonic Fastest LCD Display

ViewSonic has recently released a very exciting product, a nineteen inch LCD display with a 3ms response time. This is the fastest LCD panel currently available to consumers, and it is clearly aimed at gamers and movie watchers. Dubbed the VX924, the display is part of ViewSonic's X series which tries to comnbine performance with style. The word on the street is that Samsung will have a 4ms display available this year, but this may be the only 3ms."

Any word on whether it's a 6-bit or 8-bit display? I didn't see any mention of it in the specifications.

I'd like 1600x1200 as well, but this bad boy might finally spell the end of my CRT.

EDIT: On a side note, given the 5ms white-to-black-to-white time and the 3ms grey-to-grey time, I'm assuming this is some sort of FFD technology? That was supposed to come out on the Mitsubishis a LONG time ago, but never panned out.

You would want an LCD bigger than 19" if you want 1600x1200

Yes. To MOST people, an actual grey-to-grey response time of AT LEAST <9ms is required in order to not see ghosting.

I bet its really 6ms. Viewsonic do not manufacture LCD panels. I think they get their Panels from Philips/LG and they say its 3ms just to their testing specs which is usually false. Samsung in the other hand make their own LCD's panels and label their specs correctly.

I don't get it. To refresh the screen once every 9ms or less, the refresh rate would have to be 111hz. Aren't you supposed to run LCDs at 60hz? And if the screen refresh takes longer than the response time, how can there be ghosting?

It came out a while ago, and there are a lot of bad reviews due to it "sparkling" Supposedly how they have such low response is that the monitor shoots past what it needs to be at right away, but then takes more time to settle back down to what it is supposed to be.
