I'm looking to purchase a new monitor, looking for a 19" CRT. Ive been looking at the Viewsonic A91F+, even though i cannot find this at ANY retail store and would have to order it online.

Definatly will be looking for a monitor with nice image quality to be used for gaming.

Anyone have any suggestions on this monitor or a monitor that might be better than this in the same $250~ price range?

thanks!

I've been looking for a good 19 inch CRT for a while now, and I have really only settled on two models:

the Viewsonic G90fb http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products...m9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=171840

and the NEC FE992 http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products...m9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=175394

I have read both good and bad things about the G90fb, but it seems like the better option on paper. It's max res is 1920x1440 @ 64Hz and it can do 1600x1200 @ 77Hz. It also has a plethora of user controls so you can easily adjust nearly every aspect of its geometry. The NEC's max resolution is 1600x1200 @ 75Hz and it also has a decent amount of user controls (I dont think there are as many as the Viewsonic.

Honestly, its a tossup between the 2 since I dont know about you but I dont plan to run in anything higher than 1600x1200 @ 75Hz. Like I said, I have read mixed reviews of the Viewsonic but I have personally never read anything bad about the NEC; NEC generally has a great reputation for quality monitors. I do know someone that owns the g90fb and am looking into getting him to show it to me so I can get a feel for its quality. If you want, I can tell you if I like what I see.

I currently have an NEC Multisync 97F, and personally i think it sucks graphically

but i will never go past the resolution of 1152

i heard that buying higher resolution monitors are good if you use high resolutions, but suck if you use smaller resolutions ( IE 800x600 )

so you only plan to use 11x8? 17" does 11x8 fine. in fact, imho, 19" makes 11x8 look too big.

Hey, I have the Viewsonic A91f+ and its seriously a badass monitor. I had the A90f+ before this, but it took a crap on me earlier this year. The A91f+ only has blurry text when you are using the super bright mode which is intended for gaming and movies, not writing word documents. Also, i run my system at 1600x1200 and play games at 1600x1200 and the monitor is great. Its definately one of the best CRT's out for the money. Also, i got mine at CompUSA.

Take a look at the Samsung 997DF. It has the best specs of all monitors in its class. IMO, its the best monitor you can buy new in 19" for ~$250.
