Viewsonic 21 inch Monitor appears to be "bowed"

Just got a 21 inch Viewsonic Monitor (G810 Series) and it appears to bowed or curved. It could be that I am comparing it to my 19 inch flat screen but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. None of the settings options seems to work.

thanks,,

PS Its a January 2000 model and I paid $130 for it so I don't feel too bad. Other than that issue it has a great picture.

it's normal for a monitor to have a bowing effect, in the middle or on the sides. I called viewsonic about it once, they said they can't make all their monitors perfectly straight, as long as the bowing doesn't go over 2mm, then it's within standard. I notice back when 14-15" monitors were out they didn't have bowing problems, but those tubes looked like -> (_) back then even when everything was straight, we had more of a back border because the sides were so round, I wasn't so picky back then about monitors, but when I get a monitor and the color isn't uniform on the whole screen, the text is blurry on the edges, or there's geometry problems, i most often return it.

Thanks Ray,

I am sure if I didnt have a flat screen I probably would not notice it. Everything else looks great on this monitor, especially games.

Have you tried adjusting the Pincushion alignment setting? This will help straighten out a curve or curves on the edges of the screen(if that is where the bowing effect is at).
