So Im looking for a reasonably cheap ~20" widescreen monitor.

Its going to be used primarily for gaming, with a little movie watching as well. Both those monitors are the right kind of price, but I could spend a bit more if its going to be worth it.

so, what would you guys recommend if not one of the 2 monitors above?

its about $320 online, but has the glossy coating if you want that. its got 800:1 contrast i believe also.

I have the VS 2025 and I love it. Defineltely worth the money. Never tried the Samsung so cant comment on it. I have used Samsung CRTs though and they do make a good product.

I was in the same decision making process between these two panels, I've read hundreds of reviews for both as well as posts comparing the two and asking the same question you are, the VS2025 is by far the better/faster panel so that's what I got and I've loved every game I play on it. Dead pixels shouldn't be a problem, as I haven't read about anyone having them for the Viewsonic. The only issue you might run into is backlight bleeding, I have a little bit of it but can't notice it at all unless the screen is on and completely black.

cheers guys. Might spring for the 2025, looks to be a pretty popular and decent monitor on here, and elsewhere. Also a price that I dont mind, so its a winner in my mind.
