Viewsonic 10" capacitive tablet Sears

Whoops, didn't see that Tegra...

As I said, I think they have the specs screwed up, the preview units had an Atom CPU, I suspect it does have an Atom CPU and not a Tegra.

They do have some in stores to eyeball...

It'll be $379 tomorrow.

Nice. Android should absolutely fly on a 1.66ghz Atom and when you need to do real work you can just boot into Windows 7. If it's possible to drop in a Intel or Sandforce SSD this tablet would be just about perfect.

Yep, not bad, I think I'm going to hold out with my iPad for a bit, see which Android tablet gets the most active community of developers behind it, and let Gingerbread show up as well...

Has to be an Atom...Windows won't run on ARM architecture, correct? Now if it's a dual core Atom that would be spiffy.

Windows Home Premium sort of makes up for that, just to use the thing as a media extender on my home network with the HTPC would be slick.

link says 2.2 with a dual core (not dual boot)

I really, really want to buy this but I have zero need/use for one.

I am not a marketing guru, but how do you launch a new product category for your company and not make sure the right specs are out there?

Someone over on Slickdeals scored 2 that were mis priced at $79, if you're close to a Sears, you might check to see if any are in stock and make a quick trip, they'll likely correct the price today...

Overall, it doesn't look too bad. I would have preferred Atom / Windows 7, though battery life would probably only be in the 2-4 hour range.

If this thing does have good battery life (6+ hours), I'll probably consider it for simple Internet browsing / movie watching on WiFi, and then upgrade my Droid X later on to something with a smaller screen. Every now and then I want to show a group of people a video clip quick, but the Droid X is too small to crowd around and I don't have time to break out the laptop.

Stupid question, but Google said no Froyo for tabs - hence not market for this. Is 2.3 going to correct this? Or will these type of tabs forever be unsupported?

thats pretty cheap, i thought these were going to be 600 or more. if its starting out this cheap at a price gouger like sears it will probably be under 300 soon

My local Sears had one for $379. I passed, I am just not sure where the support is going to be in these bastardized Android tabs. For $70 more, I think I am going to go with a refurb IPad - no flash, but at least I know it'll be supported. I think google may have made a mistake not allowing these on the marketplace.

Without the marketplace, the android tablets will be even more crippled than the iPad.

I think a 10" gingerbread tablet is where it's at.
