viewing vhs-movies with Voodoo3 3000

since the voodoo3 3000 has got a tv(-out) port, i was wondering if there is a way to view vhs-movies via a standard vcr connected to the voodoo. or did 3dfx actually have a reason to name the s-vhs port tv-out port?

The port is for video "output" only.
You can output it to a TV, or output it to a VCR, if you want to record onto tape what is being displayed on your monitor.

just why did 3dfx do that? even my old nvidia128 (elsa erazor) card was able to read the signals from a vcr and let me view it via a special software.

The Elsa card also had Video input. 3dfx made many different V3's. The one with TV out "AND" video input is the V3 3500.

true, but its a lot more expensive. allthough compared to the new geforce cards its still a joke (the price of the v3 35).
