Viewing movies on a tv via computer. what is the best way to go?

if i burn a svcd to cd and put it in the dvd player it looks a good deal better then when i view it on my computer.

but lets say i view that same svcd on my tv via the computer and a svideo cable. will it look better on the tv via svideo since the res of the tv is lower? or will it look crappy like on my computer?

also what other options do i have? i just have the connections on the back of my tv so....

i'd say it would, at a minimum, look as good as the svcd
