Vietnam War

This summer I'm taking a class on the Vietnam War. Previous to this class I knew very little about the actual history of the war. I knew about the commies/charlie, that it was an uber scary place to be and what not. I basically came to these conclusions because of movies and video games. But after the first few weeks in class I have learned a lot. We started the class learning what had happened since our involvement after WWII, and now we are as far as 1966 with LBJ slowly increasing troops to SVN.

So I guess what I'm asking the vets is what your experience in Vietnam were like. What did you do over there? What did you think of the organization of the war? How long were you over there for? I would greatly appreciate it if you would share you experiences with me.

Thanks

P.S. what did you think of Westmorland?
