edit: Out of stock EVERYWHERE. I can't find them at any sears, or anywhere else online.

Considering going here and getting a used one online. Le Sigh. What you guys think?

So I'm thinking of going to Sears and grabbing a Panasonic Viera TC-50PS1 on sale for 899. It's a 50" plasma. I also see that there is a TC-50PS14...can someone figure out what the difference is?

The main models are:
720p X1
1080p S1, G, V, Z

They also make:
720p C1 & X14
1080p U1 & S14
These models lack features here & there.

Overall from my reading & some personal opinion
720p C1, X14, X1
1080p U1, S14, S1, G, V, Z

I rate the 720p X1 higher than the 1080p U1 or S14
Together X1, S1, G, V, Z

The S14 has a mini D-sub for PC input. That is the only thing that could be consider a plus for it. Just about every spec for it is lower than the S1.

I've been so tempted to hit Best Buy for the 50X1 while it's on sale for $699.99 but I agreed to wait till after we get tax refund.

thank you! I haven't bought a TV in ages so I was completely out of the loop. What I've been reading seems to agree with what you've said. I've got a huge refund from my grad school coming...thinking of paying off a small student loan I have and picking up that S1. I can't believe how clear it was on the display they had going for the sunday football games.

I havn't bought one in quite some time either, our main room one is a 32" SD CRT. I've been feeling the urge to get a bigger one for a little while and finally got around to doing some reading here & there.

If you get time check out avsforum. There is a thread over Panasonics 12G panel (code number for the internal panel in this years plasmas) & one for the X1 series that I've been reading. I don't know for a fact but it wouldn't surprise me if there was one for the S1 series also.

Don't get the S14, it has a different, inferior anti-glare coating on the screen. The S1 is a great value at that price though. I actually might go pick one up if that deal is still going on. My buddy has the 54" model and it is beautiful.

I picked up the TC-50PS1 two months ago from best buy for $870 and have been really happy with it. It's a great TV for the price.
