Viera Link issues

I have a Panasonic TC-P50VT25 that I purchased last week. In October I purchased a Panasonic HDC-SDT750K for use on a family trip (I am a pro videographer, but there was no way I was carrying my large pro cameras on vacation). Both of these are at the top and among the newest of the model list in their respective areas at Panasonic.

I am now having issues connecting the two together via "Viera link". I have the Viera link option on the camera turned on. When I hit the Viera Link button on my remote control, it merely gives me two options "Player" and "Network Camera". My first instinct was to do the network camera, but after doing its search nothing showed up. Next I tried the player option and to my surprise it started controlling my Samsung BD player with no problem.

Is there something I am missing while trying to connect my PANASONIC camera? It would seem to me that this should be a no brainer, especially if I learned I could control my Samsung BD player by mistake with no programing needed. Both of these items claim Viera Link compatibility, and it would seem to me that the lists under Viera Link should list more than Player or Network Camera?

Is the camera connected with hdmi?

EDIT: network cameras are for ip based security cameras, btw. I'm not sure if it will only look for panasonic cameras as I have never connected a camera like this.

Yes it is connected by the HDMI cable provided with the camera (mini HDMI on the camera end, full on the other). The manual says to use Panasonic HDMI only (imagine that), but I figure it should be Panasonic if it came with the camera. I also thought that the network camera should be what you mentioned but it was my only option that showed up. Once I opened the sub menu thing on the TV I see more of a graphical diagram of what can be connected via Viera link. If I swith it to video camera, it is all greyed out. If I go to Blu Ray player, I can select it (samsung). Once the Panasonic BD player comes in, I hope I do not have the same issues as Samsung works nicely!

hmmm seems odd...

Just went rummaging about through the viera link settings on my V10 and can't find a setting that would obviously have an impact on connecting a camera. Does the camera have to be set into playback mode or anything like that to get it to display one the TV. (I'm not at all familiar with camcorders connected to TV, having never done it) Just seems like the camera isn't presenting itself to the TV set.

It really should be a no brainer with the hdmi control, especially considering they are both Panasonic.

After reading the manual the doesn't seem to be any setup other than turning on viera link on the camera and setting the camera to play mode.

still seems really goofy...

ugh, I guess you could email panasonic. Their support is usually much better than other manufactures.

Edit: I hope someone here has first hand experience with Panasonic camcorders, but it might not be a terrible idea to ask in the camera forum?

HDMI CEC has always been somewhat of a pita...
