videos won't play after installing geforce 6200 video card

I installed a pny geforce 6200 card today, a upgrade from the igp.

NOW, no video will play, divx ,xvid, mpeg, even dvd's won't play. streaming video from cnn.com does not work either. everything worked fine before.

I tried deleting the card and then reinstalling with the latest drivers from nvidia. no help.

I removed then reinstalled the codecs. no help.

What happens when I click on a video to play is: windows media player open then just hang. cpu usage jumps and stays at 100%.Everything gets EXTREMELY sluggish and I have to push the reset button to reboot.

I have discovered that disabling graphic hardware acceleration helps.

Any ideas??? thanks
