For some strange reason, I seem to be having difficulty setting the .avi file association to open with Media Player Classic; my video files refuse to open (when double-clicked) with anything other than Windows Media Player. I tried setting associations within the programs as well as going to "open with"->media player classic "always".

Any suggestions?

Thanks

It was already set to media player classis. I also tried setting it to windows media player, then switching it back to classic -- no dice.

Which exe is it associated with? Typically I'll go to a file with the extension ala AVI mpg or whatever, and do an open with... and navigate down to C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe.

That the player you are looking for?

That's what I've tried, only with a different program. It looks similar to the player you mentioned, but actually has a lot more functionality and is quite popular.

Anyway, it seems that no matter what I do, I can not get it to open with media player classic.

edit: it works for .wmv, but not .avi. :-/
