VideoLAN...how to?

Okay, I want to broadcast video over my LAN, like Divx and MPEG2 files. VideoLAN only supports MPEG2 in Windows, and plus the server setup is to confusing. Can someone point me to a video lan broadcasting program that works?
 
Dunno, but VideoLan is a great proggy for outputting DVD MPEG-2 video to VCR as it bypasses Macrovision.
