GamerNexus and AnandTech's write-up confirmed that Founders Edition is just a blower reference card. That means effectively NV raised the price from $499 for 2012 680, then to $549 for 2014 980, and now all the way up to $699 for the 1080. Supposedly only Founders Edition (FE) reference cards will be available at launch.

This means until AIBs release their cards, it's a $70-100 price premium for blowers over open air cooled cards. I guess this means NV will be collecting huge profits for nothing in the entire OEM market that loves shoving blowers into any rig they can think of.

Considering the cool and quiet AIO on Fury X, assigning a $70-100 premiums for a crap blower is a joke imo.
