[Videocardz/OCUK] Goodbye GALAXY and KFA2, Meet GALAX

Do you remember the first GeForce 900 series card to be leaked? It had a GALAX brand name on the back. At the time we thought it was just a missing letter from Galaxy branding.

Well… as it turns out, this is actually a new brand made after consolidation of Galaxy and its European brand KFA2. Now it’s only GALAX. This will take a while to get used to..

GALAX will probably continue with GC and HOF series. The only card that has been shown so far (not exactly from official channel) is GTX 970 with GC-like cooler (see below).

What do you guys think about this re-branding?

It sounds like they burnt a pretty big bridge as an AIB and customers will be hesitant to purchase that brand in the future due to their abrupt disappearance earlier this year.

Would be interesting if because they dissolved Galaxy and KFA, they are not required to honor any contracts made with those two bodies.

I bet something like that would fly in Consumer Bend Over Capitalism USA, but Consumer We Got Your Back EU, not likely.

I thought both Galaxy and KFA2 had good branding.

Now you may say they are the same thing, Galaxy being USA, and KFA2 Euro-Asia focused,
but I remember Galaxy for their output solutions and KFA2 for their bulky over-the-top cooling solutions.
And the HOF series of course!

Either way I held them in higher regard than anemic Zotac and PNY, and also Giga.
