Ok Guys

I'm a realtive Noob to the videocard market. The Last "Good" videocard I installed was the Voodoo5 PCI. My brother just received his annual bonus, and wanted me to look into building him a Good Machine. This entails a good Video and Sound system. He's a regular photochop, image ready, and video editor, as well as an Avid Gamer. I'm using an Asus P4S333, with 1GB of PC2100 DDR Ram and want a Graphix card that can easily handle his wants on the video editing side as well as the stability to play graphic games. Since my favorite cards went the way of the Dodo (voodoo) Can someone either point me in the right direction or recommend me a reliable, well supported videocard that can give my brother both of those features, and DOESNT have alot of installing issues?

Thanks in advance.

I'd say no less than a GeForce3 ti200 or a Radeon 8500LE. How much is he willing to spend?

Exactly! I'd say look into the GeForce3 Ti200 or Radeon 8500 (not LE, regular version is slightly faster). Both are around $150 US. If you're willing to spend more for a faster card, look into the GeForce Ti4400 (NOT MX), which is around $300 I think.

Thanks for the info guys, its appreciated. I think I will probably go with the GeForce3 since I've heard alot of bad press on ATI for their video game & hardware compatibility. All I'm looking for is a high end type card thats reliable, stable and has a sh!tload of support.(drivers, tweak programs etc etc)

Moochas grassy Ass!;)

i think ati drivers are not as bad as ppl make them out to be. i have not had any problems with my radeon 8500. but if u have ur heart set on an nvidia card... u might want to hold out til the ti4200 comes out. it'll hand the g3i500 its ass on a silver platter. and it cost about the same too.

i second that, the Radeon 8500 is really good now (before it really sucked ass, but now i'm glad i didn't sell it).

But if you really want an nVidia card and can wait a little longer, get a Geforce4 ti 4200!

Yeah, if your looking at a G3 ti 200, wait a little while and order a Geforce4 ti 4200. They may be out now I don't know.
They're supposed to debut @ 199.00 US. That's a good deal for the performance.
