Videocard latency adjustment?

All of my AGP video cards are reporting that their latency is 248 PCI clks. Using powerstrip I can set it to 32, but a) I don't know what exactly this does or how it affects performance and b) how do I adjust it without using Pstrip?

In one of the option menus in Powerstrip, it displays the video card speed, hardware settings, etc. There's a Read-Only checkbox. Uncheck that; you can then change the videocard latency. I just want to change it without Pstrip.

Think I found a program to adjust the latency, though I wasn't looking for it.

I was actually looking for a place to download the KT266A plugin for WPCREDIT. I've been trying to get it from VIAHardware.com for a day now, but it can't seem to download the file itself.

that utility doesn't work on current agp cards because their bus is #2 not #1
he has a new one that can also change pci card latencies, but it also can't change agp latency of later
motherboards.
still waiting for one you put in dev and vendor I.D.'s

you can also play around with system.ini files:

[Latency]
Enable=1
001812D2=80

In this example, 001812D2 is the PCI device (0018) and vendor (12D2) ID for a Riva128, which normally has
a very high latency of 248, and which the PS reduces to 80. If you don't know the PCI device and vendor ID
for a particular card, you can find out by checking the PS's hardware details screen, which is opened by
clicking the [...] button on the Windows page of the PS Graphics System Information dialog box.

Oh? The thing works for mine. This should do the trick for you then. It lets you (and requires you to) specify the device ID, Bus #, and Function # and then change the latency of that device. Use Sisoft Sandra to obtain the required information; it's under the PCI,AGP Cardbus information icon. That'll let you change the latency of just about anything on the system. It works for mine - mostly. It just can't seem to change the latency setting of my C-media 8738 onboard sound chip.:confused:
