Videocards are just too damned expenseive. I bought my Radeon 9500Pro over two years ago for $120 and it did everything i asked it to. With Doom3 and BF2 on the shelf though it's definetely time to turn this card in. Problem is even the 9800pro's, which offer very little performance gain over my oc'ed 9500pro(740/660), are still $140 on newegg. Why would i want to waste $140 for an extra 8-10fps in doom3? Is there anything on the market for $200 that can put my current card to shame and really make it worth spending that money? Seems like ati and Nvidia are having their way with us.

Also, Dell apparently has a X800XTPE for $229 with a coupon, but of course, knowing Dell, you wouldnt receive your card for a few months (or possibly ever).

Splurge, for an extra $50 you can get the x800 XL at monarchcomputers.

Although I'm assuming that you'd just be bottlenecked elsewhere on your system if you have a Radeon 9500, so I guess a 6800 would be pretty sweet

you might be able to squeeze in a 6800. but i would only recommend it if you need AA/AF or play in resolutions higher than 1024x768. if you don't really care about these, then just go for the 6600gt.

6800, nothing else. And try unlocking it

dont get an x800 card. thats stupid at this time. no SM3.0....i'm assuming you'll be keeping this card for a couple years?

thats right...no x800 for you.

IMO, the X800 XT PE is superior to the 6800, regardless of the lack of sm3 support

Ignore hans, he has some sort of weird SM3.0 fetish thing going.

This X800XT PE deal is the best "bang for your buck" deal that I've seen in quite a while. It's the third fastest card you can buy right now, and for only $229 shipped. I'd call that a VERY good deal.

Wow that's a killer deal on the x800xt pe. Those cards are currently going for $400. Only trouble is i won't have the money for another month and i doubt that deal's going to stick around for long. Realistically it looks like the 6800 will be more in my range by the time i'm ready to make a purchase.

I'd order that X800XTPE today, but I'll be Texas by the time they ship one to me. Sadness has overcome me. :(
