minor rebuild/upgrade on my system and swapped out an enhance 400W psu with an enermax infiniti 720.

when i set the pc to sleep mode from windows(either logged on or at login screen) the system powers down, the enermax starts to beep 6 times continuous interval and the it enters idle mode. When i hit the mouse to wake up the pc, the onboard video doesnt come back on and the only way to get it back is a hard boot.

if i set the asus mb p5e-vm bios power settings to s1 only, the fans and psu stay on and video comes back no problem.

the enhance does sleep mode just fine.

is there something i can do?

sys config:
q9550 at stock
asus p5e-vm
4gb ddr2 6400 ram
onboard igp g35 video (my 8800gts is rma at bfg)
vista 64bit (latest SP)
dvdrw and one seagate 300gb hd.

If something is beeping, then it sounds like something is wrong. I don't believe that PSUs beep when the computer enters a sleep mode. (Although I could always be mistaken.)

It sounds like the new PSU isn't delivering +5vSB current properly.

it's enermax's coolguard feature. the fans keep running after you power down(sleep or shutdown) to keep the psu cool and "extend" the life of the unit. they also throw in a status light and speaker into the psu. all kinds of extra stuff that i really dont need.

apparently asus mb dont fully support this feature. i'm waiting for the tech support to reply to see if there is any kind of fix. I'm hoping it's just an issue with onboard graphics and wont be an issue with a dedicated videocard.

i may end up selling the psu and getting a seasonic x750gold if it gets annoying enough.
