I am running into some very wierd stuff with my system right now and am looking for some suggestions. First system specs :
Classic Athlon 800@800
Abit KA7 mobo
(2) 128 PC100 (generic)
Creative Labs Geforce2 GTS
17" KDS VS-7e
blah
blah
blah
Win98SE
DirectX8.0
Latest drivers for all devices
I had done some system tweaks and when I checked my 3dMark 2001 scores they looked like my old 2Meg PCI video scores (didn't even finish the first test before I bailed at 8FPS). Since it had been a while since I had nuked the system, I thought I would do a fresh install and make things happy again. This is where it gets strange.
I did a fresh format and installed from scratch and when I installed the Via 4in1 drivers all hell broke loose. I had a corupted display mouse would screw the display, couldn't read anything as it looked scrambled almost like there was a synch problem in the display. I figured I should have installed the video drivers first so I deleted windows and loaded again, from scratch. This time I loaded the 6.5 Det's then the Via's and the same thing happened. I have tried 4.28, 4.31 and 4.32 and they all have the same problem. Any ideas, I am stumped? I have nuked this system many times and never had this kind of an issue. I have a Gainward G2 Pro that I can test with and will slap that in when I get home to make sure it is not my current card (I hope it isn't, can't afford a new one) and post the results, but again, any assistance is appreciated.
Thanks
